of models, starting with the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.autocar.co.uk\/car-news\/new-cars\/vauxhall-reveals-wild-next-gen-corsa-concept-789bhp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">new Corsa<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stellantis Europe boss Jean-Philippe Imparato said Munich\u2019s Corsa GSE Vision Gran&nbsp;Turismo showed the initial thinking behind moving Stellantis\u2019s brands into more \u201cwhite space\u201d and breaking out further away from one another, Vauxhall\u2019s white space being sportiness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.autocar.co.uk\/car-review\/vauxhall\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vauxhall<\/a>&nbsp;CEO Florian Huettl told Autocar the concept was \u201ca great illustration of what we are working on for the next step\u201d:&nbsp;building&nbsp;\u201csportiness\u201d while ensuring the brand still makes cars that are \u201capproachable and affordable\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A further expression of the brand\u2019s push into sportiness&nbsp;was seen with the introduction of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.autocar.co.uk\/car-news\/new-cars\/vauxhall-reinvents-gse-performance-brand-hot-276bhp-mokka\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">new Mokka GSE<\/a>&nbsp;at the Munich show, said Huettl.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Huettl confirmed development work had begun on the next-generation Corsa. A&nbsp;launch in 2027 is considered likely for the supermini, at a price that Huettl confirmed would be around \u20ac25,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The next Corsa will be based on Stellantis\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.autocar.co.uk\/car-news\/new-cars\/first-stla-small-car-track-2026-launch-says-tavares\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">STLA Small<\/a>&nbsp;platform rather than the cheaper Smart Car platform, as it&#8217;s a more mature product in need of larger batteries. To that end, it will be offered as an electric car only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.autocar.co.uk\/sites\/autocar.co.uk\/files\/styles\/body-image\/public\/vauxhall-corsa-gse-vision-gran-turismo-front-quarter_1.jpg?itok=B_UqK0iD\" alt=\"Vauxhall Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Huettl said it was no longer Vauxhall\u2019s intention to only offer electric cars from 2028 as previously planned, however.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While the next Corsa will be offered only as an EV, the current ICE Corsa is likely to stay in production alongside it so that Vauxhall is able to cater for that market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Building on the decision to remove the 2028 EV-only pledge, Huettl said it wasn&#8217;t a case of Vauxhall pausing or rowing back on class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe cannot rush faster than the demand,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More broadly on the next Corsa, Huettl said there will be a new approach to the interior design to try to get a greater feeling of space and light in the cabin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While there will be a focus on driving dynamics and roadholding with the new Corsa as part of the sporty push, that doesn&#8217;t extend to the by-wire steering that sibling brand&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.autocar.co.uk\/car-review\/peugeot\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Peugeot<\/a>&nbsp;is preparing for its related next-generation&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.autocar.co.uk\/car-review\/peugeot\/208\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">208<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Huettl was non-committal about whether the sportier push would spur a rebirth of the Manta, which had been heavily tipped for a return in 2022 but has seemingly fallen off the plan since. \u201cWe see the request to bring back this, bring back that,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Commenting specifically on Vauxhall in the UK, Huettl said the brand \u201cneeds to do more than today\u201d and he is&nbsp;looking for a \u201cmore significant market share\u201d,&nbsp;more akin to that of the past, when Vauxhall rivalled&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.autocar.co.uk\/car-review\/ford\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ford<\/a>&nbsp;for top spot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe have a historic manufacturing footprint.
