Thanks to the extensive use of composites and carbon fiber, including carbon fiber elements in the space frame, the Skye is expected to weigh less than 2,600 pounds and be able to accelerate from 0 to 60mph in less than 4.0 seconds. The fully independent suspension will be able to be ordered in two specifications, one aimed purely at delivering ultimate off-road performance, and the other tuned for optimal ride and handling on paved and unpaved roads. To make the Skye fully street legal partial cycle guards will be fitted over the front and rear tires. The guards will be black and mounted to the suspension, so they move with the wheels.
“The interior will be simple, but we are not going to hold back on ensuring it has a sense of quality,” Callum said when the first renders of the Skye were revealed last year. Indeed, the Skye ‘dynamic’ might be a compact city car on the outside, but on the inside, it looks more like a luxury sports car. The driver and passenger ride in extravagantly contoured sports seats, behind which is a removable bench seat suitable for carrying the kids on an inner-city school run. The blade-like console running between the front seats has integrated switchgear and expands into a geometric shape with touchscreen rotary dials for HVAC controls and other key functions. The footwell features a rubberized graphite finish.

The first all-new vehicle to be launched under the name of former Jaguar and Aston Martin designer Ian Callum, the Callum Skye is a 2+2 coupé that combines muscular supercar design cues with a chunky all-terrain vehicle swagger. The compact, all-wheel-drive, electric-powered Skye is primarily designed to be a recreational off-roader, but Callum plans to offer a street-legal version configured as a stylish city car. This newly revealed Skye prototype shows what that version, dubbed the “dynamic,” will look like.

A little more than five inches shorter overall than a Kia Soul, the Callum Skye’s dual-motor electric powertrain will reportedly have 300 hp. A 42-kWh battery pack will deliver a range of 170 miles. Customers will also be able order an optional advanced battery pack that offers ultra-fast charging capability, able to be charged from zero to 100 percent in under 10 minutes.

The interior has been hand-trimmed in Arctic Pearl semi-aniline leather by the craftspeople from the Bridge of Weir Advanced Design Studio, which is co-located within the Callum design and engineering center in Warwick, England. The bright white leather is complemented by contrasting accents in “Vitamin C” orange, and silver accents on the instrument panel, steering wheel, and center console. One of the features that makes the Skye’s interior look more upscale is the use of analog instruments with bespoke graphics rather than a simple—and cheaper—screen.

All this comes at a cost. Callum plans to build just 50 Skyes a year, and on current exchange rates prices will start from $100,000 to $140,000. Callum will unveil a prototype of the off-road Skye model, the “capable,” in 2025. Callum says the Skye “capable” interior will feature more rugged and durable materials.
