Supplied under an OEM agreement with the Japanese automaker’s Alliance partner, Renault, the new Eclipse Cross is based on the the latter firm’s all-electric Scenic. Indeed, the second-generation Eclipse Cross, which will be built at Renault’s ElectriCity Douai Plant in France, is exclusively battery-powered.
Based on the automakers’ shared CMF-EV platform, the box-fresh Eclipse Cross was unveiled in single electric-motor format. The Eclipse Cross’ rear-wheel drivetrain produces 160 kW and 300 N.m of torque.
The emissions-free compact EV’s electric motor is fed by an 87 kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery, which Mitsubishi says offers approximately 600 km of (WLTP) operating range on a single, full charge. The new Eclipse Cross’ electric architecture supports 22 kW AC charging and DC fast charging of up to 150 kW. A medium-range model is scheduled to be introduced in 2026
Jetour T2 Adventure SUV: SA Launch Date Confirmed

Jetour South Africa has announced the local launch date for the T2 adventure-focused SUV.
Jetour’s adventure-ready T2 SUV is en route to South Africa, with the Chinese automaker’s local arm announcing when this model will launch in our market.
Underpinned by a monocoque chassis, the T2’s boxy bodywork spans 4 612 mm long (4 785 mm with the tailgate-mounted spare wheel), front to rear, and 2 006 mm wide, making it similar in size as the GWM Tank 300. The Jetour’s wheelbase measures 2 800 mm. The ground clearance is rated at 220 mm. The approach and departure angles are 39 and 30 degrees, respectively.
Jetour T2 SA Launch Date
The Jetour T2 will arrive in South Africa in October 2025, with pre-orders for this five-seater adventure SUV already open. Local specifications and pricing have yet to be confirmed.
Overseas, the T2 is available with the choice of two four-cylinder turbopetrol powertrains: 135 kW/290 N.m 1.5-litre and 187 kW/390 N.m 2.0-litre – the former and latter equipped with front- and four-wheel drivetrains, respectively. Both engine options are paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. From what we’ve gathered, we expect our market will get the more powerful, 4WD derivative.
As we’ve come to expect from Chinese vehicles, the T2 is equipped with a host of convenience features as standard. The latter includes 10.25-inch digital instrumentation; 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment, replete with smartphone screen mirroring; and dual-zone climate control. Six-, eight- and 12-speaker audio systems, wireless smartphone charging, and heated/ventilated front seats are also available depending on the model.
